My ‘Ambek’ is a builder. He always has the strong will toward fixing holistic household matters, both materially and verbally. Even though in my opinion he is only a master at fixing the household material problems, I have to admit for at least the last seven years after my first realization to build an interpersonal verbal communication with him, my ‘Ambek’ has always been developing his skill to understand his first born daughter. And not to mention, my ‘Ambek’ humble determination to be understood, vulnerably.
From a personal perspective, my ‘Ambek’ has always had a tendency to cry easily. As a first born son, he’s always carried not only emotional responsibility toward his small family–my ‘Endok’, epy, and I–, but also his big one–the other 6 siblings and their emotional wellbeing. By choosing to holistically live his cultural heritage as ‘Orang Toraja’, he told me that being aware toward mutual social cooperation inside his tribe, being aware toward some sense of “gotong royong”, automatically became his priority.
The above priority that my ‘Ambek’ has always been choosing, caused a blurred line that divides his small family and big family matters. It has always been hard for me personally to understand which home my ‘Ambek’ is aiming as the main destination whenever he needs to rest, or simply gain his emotional energy back.
For now, I guess there’s no need to wonder about the past and the future toward how my ‘Ambek’s little family will be. because what I know for sure, I just miss my ‘Ambek’ to be around my ‘Endok’, epy and his first born daughter.
